To commemorate Veterans Day, the Michigan State Spartans and North
Carolina Tar Heels played a college basketball game aboard a U.S.
Navy aircraft carrier. Dubbed the Carrier Classic, the game featured
two top college hoops programs in as unique a setting as the game is
likely to ever be played.
The USS Carl Vinson, the vessel hosting
the game, was the ship aboard which funereal rights were performed
upon terrorist Osama bin Laden before a burial at sea in May.
The
transformation of the flight deck of the nuclear-powered
Nimitz-class super carrier in preparation for the basketball game
was captured via time-lapse photography and shared on the U.S. Navys
YouTube channel.
